Digitale Thermometer

What is a digital thermometer?

A digital thermometer is an instrument that is used to measure the temperature with the particularity that the measurements are shown through a digital screen. When the thermometer sensor detects a resistance change, it changes it into a temperature change. Finally, this temperature can be reflected on the screen.

What types do we have?

The truth is that in the market we can find a large number of types of digital thermometers. If you look at how to measure the temperature, you can see that there are thermometers with internal sensor, external probe or infrared sensor. Also noteworthy are the thermo-hygrometers, devices that measure the relative humidity of the air in addition to measuring the temperature. You can buy a digital thermometer for different situations depending on the needs. Its size and manageability make it possible to use it in countless areas. We can find digital thermometers for the environment, dishwasher, refrigerators, barbecue or for catering functions, among others. Most models are not limited to indicating only the temperature, but include certain complementary functions that are very useful for the user. Among the most common functions are the alarm, the recording of the maximum and minimum temperature, the change between measurement systems (°C or °F) or the capacity to maintain a fixed temperature on the screen.

How to use it?

The operation of the digital thermometer is very simple; They are usually composed of a screen and a series of buttons. All thermometers have a power button, while the rest of the buttons will be related to the functions of the device itself. The time that thermometers will take to give a reading will depend directly on the model. In the case of ambient thermometers, the temperature is measured at all times. In the case of those that indicate the temperature at a specific moment, once the time of the measurement has passed, the thermometer will send a warning that will indicate that it is ready to offer us the value we need. Digital thermometers work with batteries, which are replaceable and therefore the life of the thermometer is not limited to the time the battery can last. In addition, many models have automatic shut-off function after a certain period of time, thereby optimizing the life of the thermometer.

How accurate is it?

The accuracy of the measurements will depend on several factors. We must consider that digital thermometers can offer a more or less accurate accuracy depending on the model used, and what is used. For example, models with external probe tend to have higher accuracy than those with only an internal sensor. It is necessary to consider that there is no thermometer that can extract the temperature in a 100% precise way, and therefore it is advisable to check the range and the precision of the thermometer before making the purchase. These are the particularities of digital thermometers.
